My friend & I made sure we knew how to order so we wouldn't be sent to the back of the line. HAHA so I ordered "one...cheese..wit" (Translation: One Philly Cheesesteak with cheese wiz & onions) It was so delicious & that lasted me most of the day ;P

My friends & I jumping on the "Rocky" stairs :)

Yeah I know we look like tourists, but we had to take a picture in front of the Rocky statue! ;P

My outfit for that day:
- 60s Green Wool Jacket
- 60s Pink & Green Pin
- Plain Mossimo Grey V-neck T-shirt underneath
- Gap Jeans
- White Slip on Sneakers from Target
- Vintage white quilted bag purchased from etsy
- Vintage gold & purple ring

My boyfriend had the same sneaker size imprint as Rocky's hehe*

While we were walking around, I stumbled upon this art store in Philly & had to take a picture of these paintings. Someone purchase these for me so I can hang it on my wall ;]
The next day we went to the Amish country in Pennsylvania. I went inside of an Antique mall for the first time! hehe It was wonderful to walk in & gaze at all of the interesting antiques as well as seeing a few vintage jewelry pieces, accessories & clothes that were there.

I was actually eyeing that 1940s floral wicker basket handbag with velvet ribbon trim but decided to not purchase it & save my money for the rest of the day for food/activities.

We went on a buggy ride to take a tour of the Amish country. Kelsy, the Amish woman in the picture was nice enough to take a picture with us as well as answering our questions during the tour :)

On the tour Kelsy told us most Amish houses use green curtains to block out the sun & heat especially during the summer because they do not have air conditioners nor do they believe in electricity. I just realized this house had chickens in front of their house.

Apparently, this small wooden shed in this pic is where they keep their telephone, OUTSIDE of the house LOL Here are the questions the people in the buggy ride as well as myself asked the Amish woman:
person in buggy: "What happens if you don't hear the phone since the phone is ringing outside and you're inside of the house?"
Amish lady "Kelsy": "Then they will leave a message and we will call them back."
ME: "What if it's an emergency?"
Amish lady "Kelsy": "Then they will call 911, that is why we always have to depend on our neighbors."
Here are some other facts that I learned about the Amish community:
- The Amish community only goes to school until the eighth grade. Afterwards, they decide what they want to do (i.e. work on the farm, work at a store, etc). Plus, if they wanted to learn more, Kelsy stated they would learn more from their parents and read books.
- Men who have beards are married.
- They can build a farm in 2 DAYS!!!
- Since they do not believe in electricity, they use propane gas to heat up food.
- For fun, they read, play games and spend time with family & friends.
Overall, this trip to the Amish community was fascinating and fun. I purchased handmade fudge, strawberry preserves, strawberry rhubarb jam and shoo fly pie for the boyfriend. Next road trip is this week and I am excited :)
